Full day course - £120

For the more adventurous, a full day course will enable you to make a beautiful decorative wave for yourself like one pictured above.

The price includes all equipment and glass needed for you to create your piece. We will then fuse it in our kilns.

2/3 day course - £100

Also for the adventurous in this course you will create a beautiful seahorse.

1/2 day course - £70

Fused glass looks beautifully decorative and is very tactile. Come and make a fused glass piece (e.g. a fish or a small dish) for yourself or as a gift for a friend.

1/2 day Christmas decoration course (seasonal) - £70

By popular demand I will be running Christmas decoration courses again in September / October / November / December 2024. Details TBA

Make 10 Fused glass Christmas decorations to hang on a Christmas tree or perhaps use as table place decorations (trees or stars, or the 2024 design TBA)

What you need to know

The kiln process will take a few days and so you won’t be able to take your item away with you at the end of the session. It will be available for collection or posting to you (at cost) within two weeks.

If time permits you can make another piece and the only charge will be for the cost of the glass used.

Coffee, tea and cake or biscuits will be provided during the session.

If under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult to attend this course. For health and safety reasons you must wear closed shoes, i.e. no sandals.

Feedback from Christmas tree decorations and canape dish day

I had the pleasure of doing a one day course with Kate to learn about glass fusing. I really enjoyed the day and managed to make 10 Christmas tree decorations, a rather strange looking snowman, and a canape dish. My snowman is a little scary, but definitely unique! He will be a definite conversation piece, but I’m not expecting compliments! My canape dish design was inspired by Kate's other work and it turned out beautifully. “Did we have a fun and creative day? Yes we did – we were welcomed by Kate and Andy with home made cake and a cup of tea. We discussed what we wanted to make and Kate showed us a range of her designs which are displayed beautifully in her home. We were shown to the studio and the fun began – I created an abstract wave with flowers, My husband Daren decided to create a large bowl and proceeded to cut glass into squares and oblongs. The range of colours available was amazing and Kate was on hand to chat and advise. Before we knew it we had made a bowl, a wave and 6 coasters! It was hard to leave behind what we had made but K & A assured us they would look after it through it’s 2 firings in the kiln. We cannot wait to see the end results. Daren and I have already discussed what we might be making at the next Kate Mercy glass fusing course.”

"A most rewarding and enjoyable day spent with Kate learning the art of using glass to produce some amazing designs in one of Kate’s one to one workshop days.
Although I am an creative arts person I was a complete beginner in this form of creative design using glass as a medium. I was amazed to see how Kate had produced so many stunning creations made of glass. It was now my turn to see what I could produce and although a little bit nervous to start with Kate’s tutoring was pitched just right in terms of giving me clear instructions, advice and encouragement in such a friendly and fun way.
This was my second workshop with Kate and I was absolutely delighted with the glass wave I produced which is now proudly displayed in my home.
A really enjoyable day, highly recommended and I will certainly be back for more workshops with Kate."

Owen was my youngest pupil of 2021. He celebrated his 11th birthday making a fused glass fish. Although he had never worked with glass before he quickly grasped the art of scoring and cutting and laying out the design he wanted. He was delighted with the way his fish turned out and clearly has a gift for arts and crafts.

Owen returned in December 2022 with his aunt to make Christmas decorations and they both thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and made some beautiful pieces.
